If the flooding has been caused by a broken pipe, a washer machine or a water heater failure, shut off the main water line to your home.
Call an expert immediately if you cannot locate the source of the water.
Turn off the power. If your home is flooded, cut off the gas and electricity. Use extreme caution. If you do not know how to shut off the power call us.
If it’s safe, rescue your most valuable possessions. Photos, memorabilia, heirlooms, art, money, books, jewelry, etc.
Remove any standing water. The longer the water sits, the more damage it will cause. Pump out any standing water. Remove excess water by mopping, squeegeeing. Put furniture outside in the sun to dry if possible and not raining. Dry all wood products.
Keep children and pets away from any standing flood water, it is often contaminated.
Place aluminum foil, plastic bags or wood blocks between furniture legs and wet carpeting
Turn air conditioning on for maximum drying in summer if safe. Turn heater on in winter if safe
Remove rugs from wet carpeting
Keep out of rooms where ceilings are sagging

Don’t leave wooden / stained furniture on carpeted areas – the stain will bleed onto the carpet.
Don’t leave books, magazines or other colored items on wet carpet or floors
Don’t use any appliances if moisture is near.
Don’t use your vacuum to remove water. (use a wet & dry shop vac).
